Some summer shoe lovin' ~

How can summer be without summer shoes?? During the past year and couple months, i have been looking out for some good looking, comfy, summer shoes. When i was on my search, i had realised that even though the sandals/shoes/flats had style, they werent all that comfy, not far from heels! Wear them for a couple hours and they hurt your feet.. all us ladies know how it feels ~ unless you're getting some real nice Jimmy Choo/designer brand shoes which are what you expect..along with the tag on them =P

So here are most of my summer shoes, i dont have all of them as they are at home (2 hours away)...

Barratts ~ havent had the opportunity to wear these yet as they are the newest ones that i have bought so far. Although when trying them on in the shop, they were quite comfy, just worrying about the small heel as lots of walking even in the slightest heel can cause a lot of pain! The zip is only for aesthetic purposes and not for function, there is another zip at the back which helps you get in and out of the sandal, which is very easy to take on and off. £25 in the sale
New Look ~ these pair of summer wedges are the comfiest pair that i have bought. It's like they mould to your feet, with a well cushioned sole, £10, it's worth it.

Next ~ The cutest pair of flat looking summer wedges! The wedge is made out of rubber which makes it comfy and very easy to walk in, you hardly realise that you are walking in wedges. the elastic part which goes across your foot securely holds tight your foot into the shoe. The only thing is that you have to be careful because of its colour...WHITE! £15
Accessorize~ These beauties really caught my eye when i walked into the store. Peep toe, bright colour with a little detail at the front, the heart. Perfect for summer as they give a summer feel to them, most of the shoe is made out of plastic, therefore if walking in them too long, your feet can get a bit uncomfy, but they shouldnt do as the peep toe is allowing air through, making your feet less smelly ^.^ £11 in the sale

Next ~ Hot or what?! with the back zip at the back, these are a real treat! the only bad thing is the toe separator. because its made so thin, even though the ankle part is supported and all the force is not put to the front of the foot, when walking for a certain amount of time, you can strat to feel the pain between the toes. As you can see in the picture, i have placed gels which makes the separator much more comfy to wear, also cushioning the balls of your feet aswel. works a treat! £15 in the sale

Left:: Accessorize ~ Everyone must own a pair of flip flops! whether for the beach or going out in the day, you cant go wrong. Love the floral design on these as they give you a real summer feel
Right:: Primark ~ the 1st pair of sandals that i have bought. some may think that primark is cheap and tacky, but if u look carefully, there are a few things which are not all bad. Comfy and flat, and can almost go with any outfit. the only annoying thing ~ the small side buckles to fasten your foot in.
(Both £4)

Key shapes for S/S 2011 ~ COATS

My summer holiday is not over yet, only half way through and being back in London is great! But being me and have only come back, i have been so busy this week already, as well as making my dress, i have been getting some experience and helping out with a friend, where she's already running a business, but also starting up another one! So many things going on which is hectic, but i am having tonnes of fun! And updating my blog is lovely, just to sit back and think about what a day i've had ^.^

As mentioned in my previous post, i had a snippit of a trend report from the famous WGSN trend forecasting company, and i got hold of some key shapes for next spring/summer of 2011. As designers, we all like to work a season ahead or a couple, maybe even a few! so here's the key shapes for COATS, hope this will be very useful for you, so keep designing! =)

A few images from designer brands with similar styles in their resort collections for 2011. Love Kenzo and McQueen's styles <3

Free trend report for spring/summer 2011?!

It's mid-august and now the sun is shining on us! It's never too late for the sun as the summer holidays are still on,with a few more weeks left until everyone will be piled with rediculous amounts of work, late nights (completing assignments), some skipping meals due to the lack of time us poor students have =_='' but it's all worth it at the end of our 3 - 4 year degree =D

Just a reminder of the amount of junk food me and my friend ate whilst writing up a report =P It was indeed a good boost for our brains! You either must be thinking "OMG! I want some!!" or "O_O look at all them calories!" but we did try and add a bit of our five a day with some fruit juice, grapes and strawberries xD

But to top it off...     Hot chocolate brownie with ice cream and popcorn...it was the best thing put together for the day. If you're probably feeling down or just feeling a bit spontaneous i would deffineately recommend this treat ^^

So anyway, earlier this month, i went to a trade show, where retailers and other brands showcase their garments/products that will be sold for the following autumn-winter 2010/2011, and fashion shows are put on display. Although it looked a bit like the clothes show live, each section was more professionally layed out to traders and visitors to view, but you could only buy in bulk.. which meant i couldn't buy a thing =( so tempting as everything was so much cheaper than what you would buy in retail stores.

Picture from previous trade show event, held at olympia london.

By going to the event, i managed to get a free report from the 'global leader for style trend analysis' which is very true, as most designer brands would use this well known trend forecasting company WGSN.  Reports cost thousands of  pounds! so i am lucky to get a snippit of it and i would like to share it with you special people that are reading my blog in the few days that are to come ^.^ so keep checking my blog to find out the goodies for next spring/summer =)

Testing my skills

Ahh i am so excited!! I am planning to make this dress which i have draped back in january for one of my exams and now i want to make the thing, now that i kind of have some time to myself and get stuff done, apart from uni work etc.

So.... Tah dah!

Bodice inspired by corsetry and the bottom is just my own design =)  Even though i have draped this dress, i am still learning on how to make it as neat and as professional as i can, with the lining and everything else with it.

The fabric which i want to use ~

And the goodies i want to hand stitch on ~

I hope i will be able to complete this successfully and not take up too much of my time and cause me stress, but when this is complete, don't worry guys, i will show you =)

For now, i must get pattern cutting. Take care xXx

Dressed up....?

Hiya, how are you today?

~ I went for lunch the other day with my friend as i have just come back to london, from home in Bristol, and as you do, wear something nice because you are going out into central where you can be seen everywhere. You want to look nice right? I met up with my friend and the first thing he said to me was "Why are you so dressed up?"  I stood there thinking "What?! Dressed up?" Either he has no style or am i not seeing myself right...?

The Look:  Top ( Alcott - Italy) ::  leggings with side zips at the bottom, which you can't see ( Uniqlo) :: Boots (BHS) :: Bag (Clothes show live) :: Watch (Bench) :: Ring (Oasis)

Summer in Milan

Yes, one of the fashion capitals!! Went there with a few of my friends from home and it was amazing! Got to see the designer shops which are to die for ~ even little Gucci chocolate cubes which were so cute and in different colours.

The AMAZING and the most beautiful catherdal I have been to.. everything on this masterpiece is so detailed, both inside and out! So how does this relate to fashion?! Well, it doesnt really, but, it is a great piece of architecture which you can use, looking into the shapes and details. Now theres a thought!

On my shopping travels (as you can see by the bags =P) I came across this window display, which caught my eye, something that I have thought about making before in a previous project of mine. A dress made out of reciepts! Completely ethical and original which also helps on the good old recycling.

Outfit of the day : dress (urban outfitters) :: necklace (clothes show live) :: flip flops (accessorize)
